The Zone diet is a diet plan that pays close attention to food intake and physical exercise to achieve weight loss. It is a lifestyle-changing diet plan to get people to shed weight and get in better shape. The key aspect of this diet plan is the set of eating guidelines developed by a doctor named Barry Sears.

The scientific theory behind the diet focuses on the effect of carbohydrates on the body’s insulin levels. Consuming too many carbohydrates causes blood sugar levels to spike, which in turn causes the body to secrete insulin, a hormone that reduces blood sugar levels by causing the sugar to be stored as fat. It is believed that by eating the right foods, blood sugar levels can be regulated to keep insulin levels in “the zone,” a range where the body is thought to burn more fat and stop storing excessive fat.

The diet program balances protein and carbohydrate consumption in a three to four ratio, meaning 40% of your calories will come from carbohydrates and 30% from protein (another 30% typically comes from fat). It is crucial to count calories on the Zone diet, with most meals being no more than five hundred calories each and snacks no more than one hundred calories each.

Under the diet plan, you eat five times a day (three meals and two snacks), never going more than five hours without having a snack or meal. If you get eight hours of sleep per night, this means taking breakfast within one hour of waking up, having lunch within five hours after breakfast, a snack within five hours after your lunch, dinner within two or three hours of snack, and a final snack just before going to sleep.

Most of the foods eaten on the Zone diet plan include lean meats, like fish or chicken and other sources of protein, lots of vegetables and fruits, and a limited amount of carbohydrates. Rice, potatoes, breads, cereals, and sugar are the types of carb heavy foods that dieters should avoid eating, but can eat occasionally. Dieters must also avoid processed foods and high sodium foods.

Exercise is another key component of the Zone diet. The program recommends moderate intensity physical exercise for thirty minutes per day, six days a week. Physical activity is supposed to enhance the effectiveness of the Zone plan. Other enhancements to the diet include taking vitamins and nutritional supplements.

The Zone program is effective for many people trying to lose weight, but it takes a big commitment. The reason why this diet and most other plans fail is because many dieters quit before they are able to see improvement. Many people fight to stick with any type of diet plan because of food cravings, out-of-control appetites or eating habits, or a lack the motivation to lose weight. Hypnosis is the solution for solving these problems and supplying the motivation to stick to a diet like the Zone diet plan.
